A failing app doesn’t mean your product lacks potential--users might just be fed up with your design.
Apps are a dime a dozen. Even though everyone thinks their app is the next big thing, few apps will become household names or land on ABC’s Best New Apps list. Notably, those that do will have intuitive interfaces and provide excellent user experiences.
Better Design, Better Experience
Even if your app draws on innovative ideas, poor design will drag it down. According to Mobile Enterprise, there’s a direct relationship between user experience and your app’s user interface. Good design leads to good user experience, but poorly designed apps drive away users. In fact, your user interface may be the most important factor in determining users’ experiences with your product.
User-centered design, or UCD for short, is an app creation strategy where user needs are considered at every step of the design process, according to Usability First. UCD takes into account audience, context, and purpose to create a pleasurable and valuable user experience. The first rule of UCD? If it doesn’t enhance the user experience, scrap it.
Balance, unity, and harmony are essential for good design. Elements within your app, including color schemes and layouts, need to mesh together. Your app’s tabs should look consistent, and your overall look needs to be reflective of your app’s ideas.
Successful apps have clear, straightforward interfaces. Faced with constant distractions, today’s users have shortened attention spans, according to Huffington Post: they won’t waste time figuring out how an app works. Your app needs to be easy to use from the get-go, so frustrated users won’t delete it from their smartphones. If your app doesn’t have an intuitive user interface, it won’t stand a chance.
Developer and User Experiences
Creating a well-designed app can be difficult if you have big ideas but little coding experience. Even if you know how to code, you might not necessarily know how to make a great-looking product.
In either case, you’ll need to hire a talented designer to code your app--or use a DIY app-creation platform like AppMakr. AppMakr lets you design and customize every part of your user interface. What once took months of work and thousands of dollars is now fast and free.
In today’s market, anyone can create a winning app: you don’t need years of design and coding experience. Even if you’re starting with no experience, you can make a functional and successful product. AppMakr’s tools make creating intuitive, appealing apps easy, ensuring happy users and the continued success of your ventures.
