As more digital users take advantage of location-based services, we look at how you can add location features to your app for free using AppMakr.
If you're thinking about creating an app (and it's a good time to be thinking about creating an app), the time is doubly right to incorporate location features.
As the digital world goes mobile with more smartphone and tablet users downloading apps every day, location is increasingly relevant to users. According to a recent survey conducted by Pew Research Center, 74% of smartphone owners over the age of 18 use their phone to obtain directions or other information based on their current location. More users are deciding to access location-based services to find out about deals and discounts in their area.
Location has social significance to boot: increasingly, users set up their social media accounts to flag the location of posts. The same recent study noted how 12% of adult smartphone owners use a geo-social service to “check in” at certain locations and share with their friends.
If you have an idea for an app but haven't decided how to make it happen, it may be worth looking at AppMakr, a tool that allows you to build an app for free just by dragging and dropping, especially as it offers location features that you can implement in six easy steps.
Step 1) Visit the Website
Go to www.appmakr.com
Step 2) Enter the Name of Your App.
Type in the name of your App in the red box in the center of the page,
i.e. ABC Communications
Step 3) Login
You can login by signing in with Google, Facebook, Twitter or Yahoo.
Step 4) Create a New App
Select Create a NEW App at the top of the screen.
Step 5) Add Directions or Maps
If you wish to add a directions function to the app, to help direct potential customers to your business for example, you would select Common Functions and then Directions. Drag and drop into the phone screen.
Next, you need to enter the relevant address. You do this under the Specs/Info section in the bottom-righthand corner.
Once you have entered the full address, click SAVE.
Adding a map means including a custom Google map with your own markers, paths, and points of interest. To do this, select Locations, drag and drop into the phone screen, and add the URL of your Google map.
Step 6) See Live Preview
Next, you will be presented with the option to preview your app. Select Send via Email to see what it looks like.
From here, now that you have added these location based services, you can continue to customize your app with AppMakr.
